About

Elizabeth Warren-Boulton is the founder and designer of Foliage on Fabric. Located in the Illawarra on Dharawal country near Berry, she works in her studio surrounded by a large garden from which most plant material is sourced.

She is an artist with a passion for painting natural subjects including mountains, trees, and flowers. It is not surprising that working with botanical materials to make prints on fabric has become an additional fascinating art form for her over the past several years. The excitement of opening a foliage and fabric bundle to see what nature has revealed has become addictive.

Because many variables influence the hand printing process she conducts experiments to discover the best combination of elements for the creation of each item. Natural dyes from materials such as madder root, cochineal, and turmeric can be incorporated into the process. At times unexpected but exciting results appear upon unbundling.
